EVEREST is Anjali's story, a young girl who aspires to conquer her own personal EVEREST of getting her father's love and respect. At the age of 21, she is faced with the biggest conflict of her life and is forced to question her very own existence. To redeem herself and find a place in her father's heart she decides to fulfill her father's unfulfilled dream to summit the greatest and highest of all mountains, Mt Everest.

Visuals of Everest and a lone girl climbs reaching a deep crevasse. A dead body lies at the bottom of the crevasse. In her attempt to cross it she trips and falls hanging for her dear life. Today is the happiest day in Anjali Rawat's life as she is about to receive the best student award. She requests her father to come. Soon, it becomes the saddest day of her life when she hears her father Jagat Singh Rawat telling her mother Sarita that he hates himself for having given birth to a daughter and not a son and he considers Anjali to be her biggest loss. Anjali learns that she is an unwanted child. When her best friend Maithili collects and brings her prized trophy, she breaks it and vows to prove her father wrong. Flashes of a man falling wakes up the once daredevil Aakaash Joshi in a devastated state. He gets ready to meet and take blessings of his Shikha-Ma, mother of his best friend Gaurav who is no more. Shikha inspires him to move on in life and get over the death of his friend and wishes him luck for the job interview considering he has been jobless for a year. One glance down from a glass door lift and Aakaash gets a vertigo attack, goes into a trance and the events leading to Gaurav's death come to haunt him again. The CEO of Century Corp is taken aback when Aakaash asks for time to think about his job offer to shoot the climb of the famous mountaineer Arjun Sabharwal to Mount Everest.
Aakaash manages to reach just in time to stop bank officials from sealing his house for non-payment of loans and EMI's. He pleads and gets 2 more days grace. Next day he accepts Roongta's offer and is surprised to learn that Roongta is aware of his financial problems. He assures a deeply concerned Shikha that he will be fine and if after the training he feels he cant do it, he will leave it. Anjali leaves early from her house to meet and seek Maithili's advice on what can she do to prove to her father that girls are no less than boys. Maithili tries hard but nothing that Anjali would like to do. As they walk through the market a roadside romeo misbehaves with Maithili. Anjali runs, jumps, climbs and chases him down, thrashes him and hands him over to the police.
Roongta introduces Aakaash to Arjun in between his photo shoot. Arjun bewares Aakaash that it is not going to be easy to climb with him and is he capable physically. Aakaash says if he was not capable Roongta wouldn't have chosen him. After Aakaash leaves Arjun checks with Roongta if Aakaash is aware of the real plan. Roongta says No. Roongta assures Arjun that Aakaash is the right man for the job and Arjun should focus on preparing himself as they cannot fail. Back home Anjali tells her mother that she is not angry with her father but she wants to do something to make her father feel proud of her, what can she do? Over dinner, Jagat informs that his old time friend Vikram Bhardwaj and his family is coming to see Anjali for a marriage alliance with their son Vidhaan. Anjali is frustrated further and takes it out on her mother. The Bhardwaj family meets Anjali and they inform that they would like the marriage to happen before Vidhaan leaves for his Siachen posting in a months' time. Jagat and Vikram remember old time. Jagat shares how if he had a son he would have liked him to climb Everest the dream he could not fulfil because of an injury during Kargil.
Aakaash meets his ex. boss Mr. Alok Tiwari who informs him that Roongta is a shrewd businessman and he should be careful. At the press conference organised to announce MISSION EVEREST by Century Corp Arjun talks about his past life and upcoming preparations for it at Nehru Institute of Mountaineering (NIM). Aakaash visits his psychiatrist friend Dr. Roshan Jehangir to treat his acrophobia. Aakaash borrows camera equipment from his old colleague Abhay. Anjali sees all the past photos of his father and the flashes of all the conversations between her father, mother and Maithili race through her mind. She calls Maithili at night and tells her that she wants to fulfil her father's dream and climb Everest for him.
Aakaash rushes into Shikha's house to see her pale and unwell. While she says that she is fine, the neighbour tells Aakaash that she is lying. Aakaash takes a promise from her that she will not hide anything from him. Roongta informs Aakaash that they leave tomorrow for NIM training. Aakaash attends a hypnotherapy session with Jehangir but is not able to bear it as flashes of Gaurav keep haunting him. Anjali and Maithili research on Everest and learn that the best place to train herself is NIM, Uttarkashi and the course starts in 2 days. Anjali comes home and tells Sarita that she has decided to climb Mount Everest to fulfil her fathers unfulfilled dream. Sarita makes her aware how dangerous it is but looking at Anjali's determination and desire to make her father feel proud of her she supports her and Anjali is all set to leave for NIM the next day. Arjun meets his mentor Kamath who tells him to be careful of Roongta and wishes him all the best for Mission Everest.
Dreading flashes of Kargil wake Jagat up with a start. Sarita nervously makes up a story and asks Jagat if Anjali can go and spend a month at her aunt's house. Jagat agrees. Together with Maithili they reach the airport and are shocked to see Jagat outside the entrance. They all stand their wondering how to escape his eyes. Due to his slackness Arjun confuses himself with the time of the flight and wakes up after a few calls from Roongta. With no time to spare, Roongta drives to fetch Arjun from the hotel where he spent the night after judging a beauty pageant. Waiting for Arjun in the lobby Roongta meets his cousin Bharat who ridicules him for bringing disgrace to the family name with his unethical business practices and with all the bad that he has done for people he is never going to be successful. Just then Arjun joins them, Roongta excuses himself and they exit. Aakaash goes to meet Shikha who blesses him with all the success and takes his promise that he will take care of himself and do the best for Gaurav's sake.
